Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
May 2006 turn out to be the most prosperous, most peaceful one yet when all our projects can finally bask in the sweet, warm light of accomplishment.

We´ve been going through some harsh times lately and sometimes it seems like there is no other way but down.
The secret to surviving the experience is to realise that there´s been rough years before.
Our generations don´t hold the patent on hard times and if "less gifted" people survived them before, no reason to think we can´t.
Success is the fruit of hard labour, good timing and a silky tongue, I´ve been told.
I don´t have a silky tongue.
In fact, there´s nothing silky about me.
Anyone who knows me and my people skills can attest that me and Quasimodo were probably separated at birth.
Good timing is definitelly not my forte either. not when Wrong-Place-At-The-Wrong-Time could be listed as my home address.
No, the only thing I´ve mastered in these 34 years is the science of hard work.
You commit to something and you don´t let go until you´ve bagged it.
Just like fishing.

Is hard work alone a guarantee of success?
Not to this date.

However, in a recent conversation with my Muse with whom I entertain these dialogues at late hours in my dungeon, I´ve come across a valuable piece of information.
According to my Muse, Life is on the ropes.
She´s ruined so many projects, so many things for so many people that she can´t take much more.
Catastrophes, disasters, wars, backstabbings.... Life is literally about to fall apart, drunk. We´ve pushed her to the very brink of metahuman resistance, lads.
And when Life takes a sabbatical to address alcoholic comma - a state in which I plan to merrily immerse myself in the next coming hours... hic!-, who benefits?
The underdogs. Us.
That´s right, my friends, this is the golden chance for every single one of us who work like machines all year long without ever seeing our work mature into something palpable.

This year, I´ve reserved a place for me and anyone up for it on the shores of Oportunity Lake.
There´s no turning back, everything´s ready and waiting, line, hook and sinker: I can either drown in success or catch me one huge break.
I mean fish.

Whó´s coming?
